Experiences with Lean as an Intrepreneur by Charlie Kindel

Charlie Kindel is the founder and CTO of a stealth startup in the Seattle area. He is active in the Seattle startup community as an advisor, mentor, and angel investor. Previously Mr. Kindel served as the GM for the WP7 developer platform at Microsoft where he drove the creation of the application and game ecosystem for Windows Phone 7.

During his 21 year tenure at Microsoft, Charlie repeatedly drove innovative Microsoft technologies and products including Internet Explorer, Windows NT, home networking, Windows Media Center, Windows Home Server, and Windows Phone 7. Follow him on twitter: @ckindel.

This is also a great opportunity for networking, and yes, we have name-tags. (NOTE: It's $5 to cover food and other costs, but if you didn't RSVP, it's $10 at the door.) New to lean? That's okay! Go to, check out   WikiPedia's Definition and tune into the   Startup Lessons Learned blog, and come prepared for the meetup.

Unfortunately the session digressed into opinions and comments from attendees. I was interested in the perspective of Mr. Kindel. In the future, I think I would like to see a moderator control the comments from anyone BUT the guest. We can all share our comments during networking time. But for the presentation, I want to hear from the guest primarily. Thank you for the opportunity though. :-)

I was most interested when the discussion touched on the Lean topic. There are other groups in Seattle which focus on the start-up community in general.

Though it was great to have the speaker address people's questions so openly. I would have like a bit more focus on a single topic (then the questions may have been more cohesive as well). Perhaps a bit longer monolog before the dialog?

Great evening all around. Charlie Kindel did a fine job talking about Lean Startups, intrapreneuring, networking and the inter-related nature of them all. Fun group of people, too. Thank you.

Learned about the importance of being a "yes and" person as opposed to a "yes but" person. It is the difference between entrepreneur and corporate...

Meeting was well attended with good mix of technical and non-technical startup folks. Charlie had good insights about getting started, both while working a day job and as a full-time entrepreneur.

Not only was the "fireside chat" great but the networking at this event is fantastic. No "seattle freeze" here ;)

Charlie obviously has a wealth of experience to share. It was great how he answered questions and allowed the room to influence his talk.

Lean Startup Seattle is Normally on the first monday. But not this January, to give people a break from the holidays. Sorry that we are overlapping.

Sounds like a great event. Bummer, it's the same night as our speed pitching event :-( Thought Lean Startup was 2nd Mon not 1st Mon - next time I'll try to keep the Seattle Entrepreneurs event NOT on Lean Startup night!
