Cake Pops & Coffee: Women in Tech Discovery Session
At Galvanize, it’s our mission to make quality tech education accessible to anyone with the aptitude, drive, and determination to succeed as a web developer. Join us at our all female information session to learn how you can gain the skills you need to pursue an impactful career in technology. Today, American women are senators, surgeons, pilots, astronauts, architects…you name it, women are doing it. However, in one of our most important and impactful industries – technology – women currently represent 18% of the workforce. The number of women obtaining computer science degrees hovers around the same percentage. And yet, in 2014, 38% of graduates from coding bootcamps across the U.S. and Canada were women. That’s progress, but it’s not good enough. This event is open to all women (and those who identify as female/non-binary), their friends, and families. Come for the networking, stay for the chance to see how you can impact your career. Schedule: 12:00pm - Introductions 12:15pm - AMA Join us at our stunning Boulder campus where you can meet our female students and alumni and learn more about web development. Galvanize welcomes students who do not identify with a specific gender and those who are transitioning.

What we're about

Have you ever thought about learning to code but weren't sure how to get started? Let's meet and explore the fundamentals of programming, including how to write code as well as how to develop an attitude that will enable us to quickly learn new technologies. Each meetup will be led by an expert who will guide us in a new skill or concept, and help us get started with programming, whether as a career or as a hobby. All levels are welcome to attend! Topics we'll cover are HTML/CSS, Javascript, Git and Github, SQL and the Command Line.
