About this event

Description:

Why open a text editor or some other program to manipulate and analyze text-based files when you can do it from the command line? So many command line tools have been created to help us perform specific tasks. In this problem-oriented presentation, discover how to use tools like tee, xargs, sed and awk, sort, uniq, expand, find, and more!

Audience:

This presentation primarily focuses on topics for people that would like to use the command line for tasks that they don't want to open a dedicated program to use.

How to Prepare:

Think about situations of text modification and analysis that you often use text editors to use to solve.

About the Speaker:

Curtis Schlak has programmed for 25 years, taught for 5, and has a great desire to make the world better by helping others learn about new technologies.

About the Moderator:

Brittany Baker is currently the Alumni Experience Strategist at Galvanize. Prior to Galvanize, she worked in higher education at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) and lived in both New York City and Abu Dhabi for five years. During her time at NYUAD, she advised students, planned international trips, and co-taught a leadership & public speaking class. She loves collaborating and working with others to help them reach their goals.
