xAPI Learning Technology Description:

L&D leaders are the midst of an historic industry revolution, bombarded with requests to link training to performance, deliver BYOD mobile learning and provide just-in-time performance support. The good news is learning leaders emphatically agree learning solutions need to change and the Experience API (xAPI) learning technology standard can be the catalyst.

John will highlight the basics of xAPI, current learning experiences in the wild using xAPI, and ways to get started with in your organization.

About Andrew Sengul

Andrew Sengul is a software developer, writer and photographer located in Seattle. Since launching Scenario Technology, his efforts have been focused on realizing the Scenario Engine as a new medium for creating interactive simulations. He has previously worked in web application development and DevOps with clients in the academic, medical and online publishing fields. Having focused on the synergy of software and creative disciplines for much of his career, he sees the Scenario Engine as his latest step toward making the power of software accessible to creative thinkers.

Scenario Engine Description:

Software developer Andrew Sengul will be giving attendees a tour of the Scenario Engine, a new Web-based tool for creating interactive simulations. This tool makes it easy to create choice-driven multimedia scenarios that look and feel somewhat like choose-your-own-adventure games. This presentation will introduce the Scenario Engine and its editing interface and give you a chance to see some of the content that it's been used to create.

Scenario-based learning has been a topic of interest in the education and commercial learning fields for some time. Presenting realistic choices and consequences in a risk-free training environment can be an excellent way to foster learners' skill development. However, widespread use of interactive scenarios has been hindered by the lack of accessible tools for building them.

The software is designed to put the writer in charge of the creative process, allowing them to build interactive content through a Web-based visual interface that can be customized to fit the type of content being created. With this tool, it's possible to quickly modify content after pushback from stakeholders, and it also makes localization a snap with the ability to easily create content in multiple languages at once.

We are so delighted to have John and Andrew at vNEXT and would like to thank both of them for taking the time to share their experience with xAPI.
