Intuitive vs challenging? The role of struggle in learning

Details
We’re excited to announce the theme for our July meetup: 'Intuitive vs challenging? The role of struggle in learning'
In this meetup we want to explore the role of challenge and struggle in learning. They say good UX is invisible, but is that what we aspire to with LX as well? It could be argued that learning is harder than ‘using’ as it requires more cognition, more concentration, more dedication. So what does that mean for LX Designers? Expect discussion around some of the following areas:
• Should we shield learners from some of the difficulty during the learning process?
• What impact does level of challenge have on motivation and how do we find the right balance?
• How do we deal with learners who benefit from different levels of challenge at different times, or groups with mixed abilities?
• How do we reconcile two very different schools of thought: pedagogy and user experience?
