Learning is a social process, dependent on interactions and exchanges between people - and shared experiences. Social distancing is a really challenging time for learning designers as a result.

For our next meetup the team from Deepr Design https://www.deepr.cc/ will be sharing everything they've learnt about optimising online and digital experiences for maximum human connection.

You'll get to try out tools and techniques, collaborate on a live challenge - and take practical insights back to your own work.

Please note: the money we collect from ticket sales will be donated to the Trussell Trust, to help ensure food banks can support vulnerable people during the coronavirus pandemic.

Meaningful interactions with acquaintances are now evidenced as being a vital contributor to both physical and mental wellbeing. Those who work in the social sector know this all too well. Imagine the collective wellbeing generated in all the day centres across the UK through shared chit chat, tea and biscuits and familiar faces. In many ways that tap has just been turned off.

With a goal of microdosing the digital space with human connection and the resulting relational wellbeing, the team at relational design studio Deepr have been asking, “How can we rapidly help charities to bake meaningful connection into digital services?”

In this meetup Deepr will share all of their learning from the project so far, from the physiological impact of holding a warm mug to the role of radical transparency in developing trust and connection through the digital medium.

They also bring a learning design challenge they need your help with - what should the final product of this work be? How can time poor designers and charities take on this learning and weave it into their online services?

In this afternoon session, you will:

  • Hear the Deepr design team share their learnings
  • Test some tools they’re prototyping to develop human connection and relational wellbeing
  • Work in small groups to help generate some ideas for how they can spread their learnings far and wide and, ultimately, benefit people across the UK
