Three steps to Legal Weed in New York in 2019

Details
The NYU Chapter of Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP) and Restrict & Regulate in NY State 2019 (RRNY) will host a public discussion of the upcoming vote on a state constitutional convention in NY.
Alexander Lekhtman, President of SSDP NYU, will discuss the constitutionally-mandated vote, its history in New York and the 14 other states where it exists.
Jerome W. Dewald will discuss how the NY State Constitutional Convention ballot question this Nov 7 provides a path to full adult-use cannabis legalization in NY State in 2019. If enough people want to hear about it, there will be a discussion of delegate selection and SSDP's possible role in the convention. The event will be live streamed on the RRNY Facebook page.
This event is not sponsored by and is not in any way connected to Empire State NORML.
At the conclusion of our meetup those who are interested will move to the New York City Bar Association 42 W. 44th Street for a presentation on Constitutional Conventions in New York, Past, Present and Future, a look back at the history of our NYS Constitution from 1777 to the present, focusing on the successes and failures of the process of amending the Constitution by the calling of Constitutional Conventions. In studying lessons learned from this history — an important lesson in public civics — we will better understand the value of the opportunity to convene a 2017 Constitutional Convention.
This event is sponsored by the New York City Bar Association and the Historical Society of the New York Courts.
