We can be that small group that helps change the world, starting in our community!

We volunteer together at various local non-profit organizations. We have many people willing to Lend a Hand, and many organizations all around the Tampa Bay area that need our help. We bring them together for the benefit of all!

We help organizations that help our neighbors and our community.

Please read the Terms of Membership for additional information before joining the group:

Children's Home - Kinship Tampa

The Children's Home

People have always cared for their relatives' children; however, most have done so with little formal help. Lack of assistance may lead to family stress that impacts the entire family. The Kinship Care program at The Children's Home is intended to provide support to relative caregivers by helping families access necessary services, expanding family support systems, and ultimately reducing stress to promote family stability. How we will LEND A HAND This is the monthly support group meeting to offer information, education and support for relative caregivers. We usually help serve dinner to the families then entertain the children while their family members are attending the educational sessions. They have some games and activities for the children, but feel free to bring something for them if you'd like! The volunteers are welcome to eat dinner with the families if you arrive before the food has been put away. We always have a great time at the Kinship events. The Children's Home, the families, and especially the children greatly appreciate our help and the fun things we bring for them! Schedule: 6pm - 8pm Please be on time since there are very few volunteers preparing to serve dinner. What to bring: • Please wear conservative clothes, you'll be playing with children. • A warm smile and generous attitude! • Personal Items - Please do not bring valuables or bags to the event, you will need your hands free to help! • If you would like to donate more than your time, please feel free to 'chip in' and help cover our Meetup fees by going to our main page, click the gray box that says 'You're a member', choose 'Manage profile' from the drop-down list, then you will find the green 'chip in' button on the left when you scroll down. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Directions and Parking: Click the link in the location above to see a map to the event location. Once there, go around the right side of the main entrance to the end, and the room is on the left. Look in our files section for written directions: http://www.meetup.com... (http://www.meetup.com/LendaHand/files/) Other Important Information: Unfortunately children are not allowed to participate in this event (per The Children's Home). Additional information about Lend a Hand events, such as bringing guests, waiting lists, and last-minute dropouts is located here: http://www.meetup.com/LendaHand/about/ By joining this event, you agree you will follow our current policies and procedures. Join us and open your heart to LEND A HAND! Please consider this seriously before you RSVP, it is very important that we have an accurate count in advance to provide to the organization. Last-minute drop-outs are difficult to replace and reflect badly on our organization. --------------------------------------------------------------------- How 'The Children's Home' benefits our community The Children's Home provides a safe haven for children who have suffered abuse, neglect or abandonment. Children need love. Families need security. That's why they are charged with being the source of strength and opportunity for children and families. Through their nationally recognized residential treatment program to their Family Support and Resource Centers, they have impacted the lives of many who rely on support and care during times of uncertainty. Over the years, they have helped more than 6,000 children realize their dream of a family, and they have cared for more than 25,000 children in the community.
