What we're about
Upcoming events (1)
The visibility of individual members of the LGBTQI+ community is essential in raising awareness in our struggle for full equality and inclusion. There is never just one coming-out milestone in our lives. In fact, our lives are marked by a thousand of coming-out occurrences.
In observance of this year’s National Coming Out Day (October 11th), we are celebrating on Friday, October 15th, with a joint group event.
Triangle LGBTQ Group (https://trianglelgbtq.org), Lesbians Let’s Have Fun (https://www.meetup.com/Lesbians-let-s-have-fun/), and several other local LGBTQI+ organizations and groups are coming together in celebration of our vibrant and multi-faceted LGBTQI+ community.
October 15th, 2021, 5:00 – 9:00 PM Growler Grlz 4810 Hope Valley Rd, #110, Durham, NC 27707
Featuring a live performance by local artist Heather Rogers! (https://www.facebook.com/hrogersmusic)
We will be seated on the patio. Bring extra seating for lawn. There are a couple of additional restaurants in close vicinity, Randy’s Pizza and Roots Bistro & Bar.
Let us commemorate our coming-out moments together and support those who may have chosen this day to be their coming-out day in our second annual Our Night Out celebration. And let us also come out in support of the businesses that continue to create safe spaces for LGBTQI+ community.
ABOUT HEATHER ROGERS: A Goldsboro native, Heather Rogers, while possessing inimitable and individual style, also has the powers of a musical medium, who can be frequently heard channeling the artists at the very roots of modern women’s music. Along with her fan-favorite originals, an evening with this musician always includes profoundly honorable and spookily spot-on covers of the likes of Janis Joplin, Melissa Etheridge, and The Indigo Girls. If you love to be taken back to the first time you heard THAT song, she never disappoints. You can also catch her with Frankie Barnacz, of Bender Street, with his silk-smooth cajon and seamless lyrical style on back-up, as he and Heather complement each other like good whiskey and sweet water. Heather and Frankie are looking forward to this event!
