THE MUSIC We'll share a desktop in the session and play videos/audio people have submitted or watch the live performances as needed. People will be able to speak/introduce their pieces on the call as needed or type their comments in the meeting chat window. Due to the anticipated number players, the usual approach applies i.e. ideally a single piece not more that 6 mins in total. With online events, the preference is for shorter pieces on average For performers there are three ways to get on the programme. a. Playing live - Just get in touch with me directly and we can test the Zoom set up for you b. Send me a YouTube Link of your video c. Make a film/recording on your phone/tablet and use WeTransfer to send it to me via [masked] https://wetransfer.com ***WeTransfer is SUPER easy - Again no registration/login. It'll send me a link to download your video. Standard limit is 2GB which way more that need for a 5-6min video. All videos are removed from WeTransfer storage after 7 days***
All welcome to our first international event! We're delighted to be joint-hosting an event on Zoom with the Bay Area Pianists in San Francisco, a group just like ours! http://www.bayareapianists.org/ https://www.meetup.com/Bay-Area-Amateur-Pianists/ There'll be two halves of 50mins, with a 15min interval where we'll split the Zoom session into breakout rooms for people to chat in smaller groups should they wish. We'll alternate performers between the groups with 6-8 of our most experienced members playing live using additional audio gear/mics to achieve the best live sound quality (this will be tested in advance). This could also be a digital piano audio interface into your laptop which can be bought relatively cheaply. If you already have suitable audio gear, or would consider getting some, and would like to discuss the possibility of performing at this event just let me know. We'll confirm the performers/timings by mid-July at the latest. I'm sure there'll be plenty more international live events if all goes to plan! As usual, we'll share the Zoom invite and password in the days before. You can download Zoom to your mobile device or laptop from https://zoom.us/
NOTE - We're now moving to online events and are going to take a longer break from in-person events. I've shifted what would have been Sat 9th May to a provisional date of Sat 12th Sep, still at Forsyth's. If you previously had a place on the May event you automatically still have one for Sep 12th should you wish (people can confirm nearer the date) Everybody is welcome to play regardless of ability, experience or musical style. If you'd prefer just to listen that's fine too. We'll be at Forsyth Music in Deansgate and will using one of the brand new Schimmel Grand Pianos in the basement workshop space. We'll get started at 2:30pm, but feel free to turn up anytime from 2pm. Free refreshments included! (Tea/coffee/soft drinks and snacks) It's £5 to attend whether playing or not. There'll also be a 10% discount on all piano sheet music on the day. See you there! *** NOTE FOR PLAYERS *** If people could aim for a maximum of 7 mins for a piece it would work best, however let me know if want to try something longer and we might be able to juggle the timings. *****************************
