What we're about
Are you a beginner or casual musician or singer who wants to play with similarly unskilled musicians? Then this group is for you!
The goal of this group is to organize amateur musicians into small groups to get better at playing music together and have fun along the way. This group will also help with logistics such as schedules and`finding practice locations.
You may want to join this group if you:
- are learning an instrument
- or are "okay" at an instrument
- want to practice playing with other friendly amateurs on a regular basis
This group is not a good match for people who:
- have ambitions of a record deal or plan to headline at the Moody Theater
- need to practice together more than once a week
- get impatient with other people learning new instruments and songs
For example, if you like to play the guitar and are bored of playing by yourself, this group could be fun for you. If you're learning to play the drums and would like to practice in a band, this group could help. Bands can do covers or original songs. Songwriters and singers are welcome. \
We'll do our best to match up compatible musicians by instrument and skill level. For example, we'll try to match up a compatible guitarist, bassist, drummer, keyboard player and/or singer. We'll see how it goes. If we get all guitarists and no drummers or bassists, then we'll have to find a way to balance things out.
Initially, this group does not have any meeting space or practice space, so we'll need to scrap that together as a group.
Even though this group is for beginner or casual musicians, the eventual goal will be to play good-sounding music together!
We also have a Facebook page to keep in touch between Meetups. Ā Feel free to join!
