Not all wounds are visible. This group will be dedicated to anyone wanting to discuss mental health. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, "Approximately 1 in 5 adults in the U.S.—43.8 million, or 18.5%—experiences mental illness in a given year. Approximately 1 in 25 adults in the U.S.—9.8 million, or 4.0%—experiences a serious mental illness in a given year that substantially interferes with or limits one or more major life activities." We will discuss therapeutic techniques that research has shown to decrease anxiety and depression. We will share our stories, connect with one another, and utilize this group as a support system.
**Notice: this is not group therapy. A licensed therapist would have to conduct a group session. If you are looking for group therapy I recommend contacting your health care provider and finding out if they offer group sessions. This is a public meet up group dedicated to discussing mental health. Anything discussed here in the group is personal opinion and is meant for educational and informational purposes only. We will be talking about a range of topics including depression and anxiety, as well as discussing various techniques that have worked for us. Always consult with a medical or psychological professional before making any changes that could affect your physical or mental health.
