Worth Matravers Circular Walk

Worth Matravers Car park

Hello and how are you? I am suggesting a circular walk starting from Worth Matravers car park at BH19 3LE close to the Square & Compass pub. I have called the pub and it is reopening on the 4th July so they will be open for outside drinks and pasties and pies from noon to 2000 hours. There is also a small shop nearby that sells stuff too like coffee, cakes and ice cream. I have checked the weather and that is showing overcast, brightening up from 3 - 4, but no rain. The walk I am suggesting is from Worth we head out to Chapman’s pool and follow the coast path down to St. Aldhelm’s Head and around to Winspit Quarry then back to Worth. If on the day we feel like a going a bit longer we’ll walk up to Seacombe then back to Worth. The terrain is moderate with some steep climbs. If anyone cares to join me for what is at longest a 6.0 mile round trip then we meet outside the Square & Compass pub from 1200. We’ll look to head off no later than 1300 hours. I look forward to meeting folks. Please bear in mind that the government is still advising caution with reference to social distancing so be mindful of that. It is all outside and I have been to Worth Matravers during lockdown so it is about as safe as you can get for a social event.

Walkies, Trails and Tails - Host Greta, Smartie and Maisie

Anyone fancying doing a walk, now the craziness of lock down has been lifted. Weather permitting . Please join me and my two special friends Smartie and Maisie as we explore dog-friendly trails. Walkies start at 11:30 and last approximately one hour. Today we will be exploring Poor Common. ABOUT POOR COMMON Poor Common is a 15 hectare site situated to South East of Ferndown. The name 'Poor Common' indicates that, at the time of enclosure sometime in the 19th century, part or all of the site was left open as an area where the Poor of the Parish would have kept the right to collect fuel but not to graze stock. A large heathy glade is rich in insect and bird life. Meeting Point In Car park, Paddocks Way, Ferndown BH22 8SU How to find the Car park From Bear Cross roundabout take the Ringwood Road A348, carry straight passing The Bridge House on the right and The White Hart pub on the left, carry onto towards the double roundabouts at Longham. At the double roundabout take Christchurch Road B3073. Once on the Christchurch Road, take the first left, approx 40 meters, it is a small turning and can be easily missed, the turning is just past the large road sign. The turning is not marked but it was once part of Paddocks Way, go through the black archway and you will see a small car park. Due to Social distancing I have limited this meetup to 6 members only. Please Read 1. Only attend if you have no symptoms or you have not been exposed to the virus 2. Greet people without physical contact 3. Walk at a safe distance from others on the walk at least 2 meters apart. All dogs are welcome.
