So, this is our first event and we are super excited, so let's get you high too :) And what better way to start the season than a drive up to the highest point in the country, Jebel Jais.

Located in RAK, on the border between UAE and Oman, Jebel Jais has an altitude of 1,910 m (6,266 ft) above sea level. The coordinates at the peak are 25°56′55″N 56°10′9″E [masked]°N[masked]°E).

Catch the breeze in your hair and the excitement in your ears as we hit the low gear and drive uphill, with eight hairpin bends and countless corners on the upper part of a road that runs over 35 km and rises 1700 m. The tarmac road is safe and easy to drive, so you are welcome to join and drive up the paved road even if you have a sedan. However, the real fun starts where the tarmac ends, from where you a 4WD vehicle is needed to taken the unsaved road to reach the top, for which we will have to pool in the folks from any sedans into other 4WD cars.

Being the tallest peak, the temperature at the top is about 10-15 degrees C cooler than ground level, so carry some warm clothing to make you comfortable.

We will meet and greet in the parking lot in front of Lamcy Plaza, fasten our belts and start our drive at 10 am sharp heading to RAK via Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311), and then take the local roads to Jabal Jais. Enroute, we will break for Friday prayers and lunch.

We plan to start our ascent around 2:30 pm and hope to descend to the ground by 4:00 pm. Then we drive to the lovely Sandy Beach in Umm Al Quwain for a fun-filled evening with volleyball, barbecue and shisha et al (will be arranged by us), so bring along your beach chairs and mats if you can.

We pack up by 8:30 pm and head home after an exciting day's trip.

The cost of the barbecue & refreshments will be distributed equally among the group.

Due to limited time to make the arrangements, please send your RSVP latest by Thursday 9 am. Also message us whether you will be driving (what car?) or be in the passengers seat. If you are driving, you can bring along 1 guest (i.e. 1 + 1). We can try to accommodate up to 4 non-driving Gypsies in our cars; however, their places will be confirmed on Thursday, 18th Dec afternoon, subject to availability of seats.

See ya!
