18:30 - 19:00 Zsolt Balogh - Monolith to modules: challeges we faced when refactored our 6M loc product
19:00 - 19:20 Pizza & Beer break
19:20 - 20:20 Florin Coros - Enforce Consistency with Application Infrastructure
20:20 - Questions & Answers

Here are some more details of the presentations:

Florin will talk about Enforce Consistency with Application Infrastructure.

“When projects do fail for reasons that are primary technical, the reason is often uncontrolled complexity. The complexity goes out of hand when the code lacks structure. In large software projects where many developers work on the same code base one of the biggest challenge is to get consistency in code, to create development patterns for common problems, so you can control the complexity and size of the system.

In this session, I will show how we can achieve consistency through structure, rather than relying on discipline only. We will look at some basic building blocks of an application infrastructure which will enforce the way dependencies are created, how dependency injection is used or how separation of the data access concerns is enforced.” - says Florin

Zsolt Balogh’s topic will be Monolith to modules: challeges we faced when refactored our 6M loc product
“We at Liferay have spent the last 3 years moving from a monolith software model to a module based system. This means refactoring 6 millions of loc to 800 individual modules. During this time we had to make several big impact decisions and learned some very important lessons which I'll be sharing on this presentation. If you are about to change development model, this checklist might save you some dead-end refactoring.” - says Zsolt

Be part of the experience and spend an evening in a great community. Pizza, beer & drinks are on Liferay, of course.
