What we’re about
Whether you're writing for fun or to be published someday, foster your creativity with likeminded authors in this new monthly group. Bring in original work to be read aloud and get feedback.
We have other members other than authors read works to help the author hear their work in a different voice. After reading, we focus our discussion around three questions:
- What did the group like about the piece?
- What questions did the group have about the piece?
- What questions does the author have for the audience?
This keeps the discussion positive while still getting everyone valuable feedback.

We sometimes have themed writes, but not this month! Even if we do have a themed writing topic, you can always bring any other writing on any topic instead.
Our previous themed writes have been "New Beginnings" for April 2023, "What are you a veteran of?" for November 2022, "That Summer" for August 2022, "Anticipation" for May 2022, "Year End Humor" in December 2021 and "Your Vaccination Story" in November 2021. In March 2022 we did "Groundhog's Day" and "Winter Weather". And in November 2022 the theme was "What do you celebrate?".
You can email pieces to be read at the meeting to b w i l s o n @ lincolnwoodlibrary.org or w j o z w i a k @ lincolnwoodlibrary.org (without the extra spaces) for them to be ready for virtual event screen sharing.
Please also go to https://lincolnwoodlibrary.org/ to register. The Zoom information is above in this description, and we will also email out the Zoom information a few days before the session.
Any writing resources discussed at the in-person meeting will be posted here for those who weren't able to make it to see.
We look forward reading what you create. Have a great month of writing!
