Hello, everyone!
The topic of discussion for this meetup is Journalism and its Future. It will be assumed that everyone attending has read the New Yorker article "Does Journalism Have a Future?" by Jill Lepore (https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2019/01/28/does-journalism-have-a-future) for historical context and an outline of the challenges for the future. From there we will debate incentive structures, consumer habits, representation and viable business models for mainstream media.

Additional suggestions on this topic:
-These two podcast interviews: Jay Rosen in The Ezra Klein Show, more focused on political reporting (https://www.vox.com/ezra-klein-show-podcast/2018/10/22/17991170/press-media-trump-polarization-jay-rosen-avenatti) and Kelsey Piper in 80000 Hours Podcast, a prominent member of the rationalist community who recently started working as a professional journalist (https://80000hours.org/podcast/episodes/kelsey-piper-important-advocacy-in-journalism/);
-This Slate Star Codex post provides a useful taxonomy of disagreements that can be applied in the way media outlets deal with debates (https://slatestarcodex.com/2018/05/08/varieties-of-argumentative-experience/).

Questions and suggestions are welcomed in the comments. Hope to see you there!
