Design Ethics

For a while that the discourse in Design has been mainly about tools, templates, tips and tricks and so on, and very little about Design careers, the future of the craft, the Designer responsibility and all of the ethics involved in our job.

After the last meetup where we talked about Design for Good, we are now going to try to bring into the public design discourse the hard topic of Ethics in Design.

As Designers, we don't usually learn about Ethics in our formal Education (like, for example, Doctors do), and when we do learn about it, it is probably already too late to change something meaningful.

But everyday, as Designers, we take decisions that have an impact in our users, our companies and in the world, and it is not always clear what is the right path to choose, what is the framework to follow, how can we predict and minimize the consequences, and ultimately how can we ensure that our decisions do no harm.

So, on this meetup, we are going to have a Data Scientist, a seasoned Head of Design, an Artist, a Philosopher and a game about Ethical Dilemmas to see if we can come out of it with a better understanding of what this is all about.

As you can see, it is going to be a full event that we think you are not going to want to miss. The meetup will happen at the new offices of Feedzai, right in the heart of Lisbon, in Marquês de Pombal, on the 2nd of October, starting at 18:30 sharp.
