The New Ways of Design

Details
So, are you still designing like it is 2009? Or even, 1999? The world has evolved and the times have changed and with that comes some new ways of working and some new ways of designing. But look, we are not talking about Photoshop vs. Sketch vs. Adobe XD vs. Figma vs. Framer vs. InVision Studio (how the heck do we end up with so many digital design tools, people?). This will not be about the tools. This is going to be about the way we design. The methodologies, the practices, the processes, the policies, the beliefs that some Designers and some Design Organizations are inventing, experimenting, implementing and having successes or failures with.
As speakers, we will have Melissa Lee, Product Designer at Volkswagen Digital:Lab Berlin. She works in a balanced team of software engineers and product managers to lead, iterate and maintain software products by translating complex problems into an inspiring and valuable user experience. The lack of design limitations in this digital age excites and encourages Melissa to constantly learn, share and challenge herself. Her talk is called Pair designing: The power of 2.
Then, we will have Leihla Pinho, the founder of Major, a digital studio focused on strategy and design, born to create products that can impact people’s lives in a meaningful way. She’s also Product Design Director at Wodify, a fitness platform built to empower gym owners, coaches, and athletes around the world. She spent the last 10 years building digital products and services, teaching and mentoring, and trying to find better ways to use design to make the world better. Her talk is called Designing with Purpose.
And the final speaker will be Pedro Moreira da Silva, Senior UX Designer at GitLab, an open source software development app used by organizations like NASA, Sony, and Uber. Pedro has worked at consultancies, startups, and solo. Passionate about remote work, open design, transparency, and mentoring. An advocate of better design with less stuff. His talk is called Remotely Open: Design Without Borders.
Then, after the talks, we will have a moderated Panel Discussion, that will not be live streamed or recorded, where we are going to talk about: A Day in a Life of a Designer in 2030.
So let's talk about all of that, and let's get together once again next Wednesday, March 27th, starting at 18:30, at the new Volkswagen SDC:LX offices in Lisbon. As usual, we will have some drinks and some snacks for you to relax after the workday and, most importantly, some interesting people for you to catch up with.
As usual, if you are interested in learning about some new ways of designing, please register as soon as you can because the spots are limited and they usually run out pretty quickly.
Stay cool and see you there! =)
