What we're about

Great food, a full bar and great music played by some of the best jazz players in town, enjoyed in a charming bistro in the arts district of Oak Park. What could be better?

But then in March 2020 - COVID-19 stopped the music cold. The jam was able to continue during the summer months in the outdoor courtyard of the restaurant but with the coming of colder temperatures it was shut down. Our intention is to start again upon the return of Spring or/and the end of the Pandemic.

However, despite the situation at the Eastgate itself, this Meetup group has kept on growing! And so does our determination to share the wonderful music we all love – improvizational jazz.

That’s why we’re turning this Meetup into a virtual jam! Every week we’ll post links to new online performances by Doug Lalli – leader of the Eastgate Café’s house band and others who attended the jam in the past and now post performances via YouTube and Facebook.

Our hope and intention is to keep this group together until we’re all able to meet again at the Eastgate Café for in-person jams.

Until then, we encourage you to support the Eastgate by ordering dinners every week or so for curbside pick-up and delivery thru GrubHub. Just call 708-660-9091 and ask “What’s for Dinner?” since the Eastgate's menu changes daily.

Thank you for your continued support and interest in our Professional Jazz Jam. Please feel free to ask questions or to comment on the music.
