The Live Food Chicago Community Pages

This is a extraordinary meet-up group. People that are in this group are looking to deprogram their negative eating habits taking conscious action toward mastering their health and well-being.

Imagine a body filled with natural greens of earth and sea, richly flavored fruits and vegetables, sprouted-living nuts and beans, energetic and alive. Every waking moment is full of life, the desire for exercise comes naturally. The natural vibration of being raises into healthy vibrancy.

then...

Imagine a body filled with heavy starches, synthetic oils, chemical preservatives, bleached and processed grains and sugars. Should any body hunger for fatigue? A diet like this causes the body to be constantly hungry, for it isn't getting any nutrition. The food industry has failed us and its time to take our health into our own hands.

This is a group for those in the process of healthy change and those seeking it. We are Chicago's leading raw food group. We enlighten each other along the way with our life experiences, encouraging positive growth, while supporting and understanding the many changes going on in our bodies. Our collective group ranges from the curious to experts having lived 100% raw for years.

We share our raw food accomplishments and receive the knowledge and benefits of eating raw, living food. If you seek education, kindred spirits, answers your doctor couldn't/wouldn't provide - you will find it here.

Why Raw Food?

Because from thirty to eighty-five percent of the nutrition in foods is destroyed in cooking. That is an average fifty percent loss! Fresh, raw foods contain the highest level of enzymes.

Enzymes are the catalyst for the hundreds of thousands of chemical reactions that occur throughout the body. Cooked foods and dry convenient diets have been denatured and are devoid of enzymes- life-promoting elements.
While they may maintain life, they do not promote optimum health or longevity!"Alicia McWatters, Ph.D., C.N.C

Malnutrition is the basis of all disease: "human's body is a living organism, made of living cells, which require living food in order to be properly nourished and function well."

When we put cooked food into our body, loaded with contaminants, the body starts to break down. It begins in the very young with colic, rashes, colds, earaches, upset stomachs, swollen glands and tonsils. As the child grows older, their may be tooth decay, acne, the need for eye glasses, etc.

Then as we enter adult life there is arthritis, hypoglycemia, heart attacks, strokes, diabetes and cancers. All this and a multitude of other diseases are unnecessary and are nothing but the result of improper diet and lifestyle!

Today, most people accept cooked food as the normal means of supplying the body with nutrients, not realizing that the living cells of our bodies do not take nourishment from the dead and artificial ingredients found in cooked food.

And so, after a typical meal of cooked meat, cooked potatoes, a cooked vegetable and a piece of cooked bread, followed by a cooked sugar desert, their stomach is full and they think they have satisfied the nutritional needs of their body. In reality, they have given their body practically no nourishment. And thus with a full stomach, they are slowly starving their body's cells.

Virtually all chronic degenerative diseases are caused or aggravated by digestive problems.

After the most extensive study on nutrition ever undertaken by the government, the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Nutrition and Human Needs concluded in its 1978 report entitled "Diet and Killer Diseases," that the average American diet is responsible for the development of chronic degenerative diseases such as heart disease, atherosclerosis, cancer, diabetes, stroke, etc. Many of the most common health complaints revolve around a 20-foot, mucus-lined tube that directly interfaces us with our environment.

This is no mystery: This is the gastro-intestinal tract, affectionately abbreviated "GI." The job of the GI is to alchemically transmute the food we eat into our flesh, blood, actions, thoughts and feelings... with a little help from our friends the salivary glands, the pancreas, the liver, and most importantly RAW FOOD -- all of which provide (now we're getting to the point) ENZYMES. more:

Professor Jackson of the Department of Anatomy at the University of Minnesota, has shown that rats fed for 135 days on an 80% cooked food diet resulted in an increased pancreatic weight of 20 to 30%.

What this means is that the pancreas is forced to work harder with a cooked food diet. "Although the body can manufacture enzymes, the more you use your enzyme potential, the faster it is going to run out..." wrote Dr. Edward Howell, who pioneered research in the benefits of food enzymes. A youth of 18 may produce amylase levels 30times greater than those of an 85 year old person.

Enzymes are destroyed by heat over 118 F (some as little as 105 F), which means they may not survive even light steaming.
