Liverpool Comedy Improv Drop-in
This popular weekly improvisation workshop has been successfully established for three years and suits anyone of any level of improv experience. We regularly have between 15-20 people attend every week. Every new person is welcomed by friendly and supportive regulars and new people often come back again and again. Improv (you will discover for yourself) is fun and laughter is addictive! Everyone can do it. This class is for all levels. You don't have to have any experience of acting, drama, character, comedy or performance. You will laugh for the whole two hours, learn lots, make new friends and connections. Guaranteed! Improvisation is making up short scenes on the spot, without a script or pre-planning. Every scene in the workshop is well structured and then spontaneously co-created by you and your scene partners. Improv is a team effort and everyone has a go and has your back! The weekly workshops start with ice breaker warm-up games, where playful silliness is encouraged! The principles of improvisation (Listen / Say Yes / Yes And) are explained and explored. We then have a go at well structured and supported improvised scenes. If you remember the TV show Whose Line is it Anyway then you may recognise some of them! Improvisation can improve your sense of wellbeing, self-esteem, self-confidence, and social connection. It is collaborative and creative and can spark lots of ideas, enhance your ability to think more spontaneously and have more fun in your life. We always have a drink and a chat after the workshop where new friendships and connections happen! Come and join us. Any questions drop me an email. Workshops are led by Emma Bird, an actor, director, improviser with 10 years experience of performing and teaching improv. Testimonials: "I had a fantastic time tonight at the improv group .... what did I enjoy the most ? The friendly welcoming atmosphere ... oh and the laughing .... I laughed out loud so many times! What did I want to get out of it? Let my spontaneous side escape & have fun ... and that’s just what she did. See you again group!" (Anne) “I enjoyed the opportunity to play, and experiment – and mostly, to risk! To risk trying something and not knowing how it would turn out (this was challenging too!). This seems to have had the effect of making me a little more relaxed and playful in everyday life, certainly more spontaneous ... you are well skilled in teaching improv, and people will have a great time and never stop laughing while learning.” (Andrew) “Best decision I’ve ever made! I was absolutely terrified but that went away as soon as we started. Everyone is so supportive and nice that it’s impossible to feel nervous.” (Tabs) “A wonderful and nurturing environment where the main aim is to just cut loose and have fun. I’ve been loving it to pieces and it’s been doing me the world of good as well. Highly recommended for anybody.” (Elliott) (Please RSVP accurately so I can get a sense of numbers. Many Thanks!)
