What we're about

Facebook group for the Meetup (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1736925893237128/?ref=bookmarks)

What we'll do
This is a Meetup for OPEN TABLE 5e D&D games mostly in Borough, London - open to new players, no experience needed!

Joining In:
I've set a weekly RSVP limit of ca 6 per GM, which should generate about the right maximum number of players. If you've not played before you are welcome to RSVP & say hello on the comments for the first Meetup you wish to attend. We will then try to find you a spot, or let you know if we cannot.
If we are full, priority goes to those who have played previously, especially current players. If you're a current player who tries to RSVP in good time (by Wednesday 5pm before the Meetup) & finds it already full, please PM either your GM or me (Simon Newman) to sort out.

Creating a PC: You may be given a pregenerated PC or make your own. Use 5e Point Buy or Default Array 15 14 13 12 10 8. Feats are allowed, Multiclassing is not permitted. SOURCES - all WoTC hardback books are allowed. For other sources check with GM. If using non Player's Handbook material please bring the book (not apps). PC Start level varies by game, typically 1st 3rd or 5th. You can post to the Discussion for your first Meet up to check re PC creation.

GMing at the Meetup:

New GMs are welcome, from a one-shot to full campaign. No past GMing experience is necessary to give it a try! GMs who run at this event commit to keeping their game open table for new players if there is physical space at the table, within a suitable level range (eg 1-4 or 3-6). Contact me Simon Newman if you are interested in running an Open 5e D&D game on Sunday.

• What to bring
Pencil, paper (or phone app if you insist). >:) Character sheet, dice & miniature figure optional. If bringing a player character, check what the starting level is - usually 1st, 3rd or 5th.

• Important to know
18+ to RSVP. St Christopher's Pub allows under-18s but these must be Guests accompanied by a responsible adult (parent or guardian) who has RSVP'd +1. You can RSVP +1 or +2 for up to 2 guests.

5e D&D - Primeval Thule

Bad Moon Cafe

This is a new campaign I'm looking to start 20/1/2019. It's an episodic, swords & sorcery setting in the style of RE Howard's Kull & Conan stories. Please RSVP if you'd like to play thanks! -Simon ___________________________ "It is a land of deep jungles and golden seas, mysterious and unexplored. It is a land of knife-edged mountains and deadly glaciers, trackless and forbidding. It is an age when humankind is a young race, newly arisen on an ancient and monster-haunted Earth. Mighty cities and sprawling empires rise and fall, weaving a tale of great deeds and epic tragedies that will be lost and forgotten by the peoples who came later. Even the land itself is fated to fall beneath the numbing cloak of endless winter, burying the triumphs and defeats of this vanished age beneath miles of ice. But for this glittering moment in the slow dream of time, Thule lives—and it is a fierce, cruel, splendid, and marvelous moment indeed." A 5e Dungeons & Dragons Open game in the swords & sorcery Primeval Thule setting - http://www.sasquatchgamestudio.com/products/primeval-thule/ Introductory pdf free at: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/129630/Primeval-Thule-Travelers-Guide Joining the Game: 2pm arrival, playing until 6pm. I set a weekly RSVP limit of 5 players + GM. If you've not played before you are welcome to RSVP & please say hello on the comments for the first Meetup you wish to attend. If you are on the RSVP list you should have a spot. • What to bring Pencil & paper. Character sheet, dice & miniature figure optional. Character Generation - will be at start of session. PCs start at 1st level (with extra hp - see below). Human PCs (Atlantean Human, Standard Human, Variant Human) roll best 3 of 5d6; non-Human PCs (Thulean Dwarf, Thulean Elf & Thulean Halfling) roll best 3 of 4d6, in order STR DEX CON INT WIS CHA. Then replace any one attribute with a '15', and apply racial modifiers. PCs receive full CON score + full class hit die at 1st level, eg a Barbarian-1 with CON 16 starts with 16+12 = 28 hit points. A Wizard-1 with CON 10 starts with 10+6 = 16 hit points. The PT Campaign Guide and PT Player's Guide may be used for materials. _Primeval Thule Campaign House Rules_ Advancement PCs advance a level every 10 XP, typically receiving 1 XP per significant encounter or achievement. Lower level PCs may receive additional XP, eg 1st level PCs adventuring alongside 5th level PCs may earn double XP. Treasure - a typical hoard earns 1 XP. An exceptional hoard earns 2 XP. An incredible hoard earns 3 XP. Carousing - spending 100 gp per Level on appropriate activities between sessions earns the PC 1 XP. The general expectation is that PCs will advance every 2-3 sessions of productive play. Combat 1. Spellcasting, shooting a bow except a loaded crossbow, and standing from prone, all incur opportunity attacks if done within enemy reach. 2. A character who is damaged while spellcasting, or who attempts to cast while Grappled, must make a CON save (DC is the higher of 10, or half the damage incurred) or else lose the spell. 3. Thulean war bows are high tensile bows which add STR not DEX to-hit & damage. Falling Fall damage to Small creatures is unchanged at 1d6 per 10'. Fall damage to Medium creatures is 1d6 per 5', starting at 10' (2d6). Fall damage to larger creatures doubles with each size category increase. Resting A Long Rest is 1 week and restores all hit dice. An Overnight rest is 8 hours including 6 hours sleep (4 hours trance for Elves), restores 1 hit point per level, and spellcasters may swap out 1 memorised spell. A Short Rest is 1 hour and may be taken up to three times per day.
