Talks
1st talk
Tyler (@takidau // https://www.linkedin.com/in/takidau) is technical lead for the Data Processing Languages & Systems group at Google and is founder and committer on Apache Beam. He will walk us through the foundations of a new feature in Beam: the ability to query a PCollection using SQL. SQL is well-adopted in the world of big data and will enable people to use a familiar language to query a live stream of data.
2nd talk
Matthias (@matthiasbaetens // https://www.linkedin.com/in/matthiasbaetens) is a Data Science Consultant at Datatonic. Datatonic specialises in leveraging machine learning to bring value to its customers, but this requires complex pre-processing and cleaning as well. He'll talk about how Datatonic used Beam to prepare data for an LSTM model to predict congestion in London.
3rd talk
Victor (@kotaivictor // https://www.linkedin.com/in/kotaivictor) is an engineer in the backend team at Qubit. He's responsible for updating and maintaining parts of the companies ingestion and processing pipeline.
He'll give a condensed talk about the way Qubit launches and monitors Beam pipelines in production.
==================
Who should attend
Everyone interested in Data Engineering, Data Science and Machine Learning, who want to learn about one of the newer and exciting Apache projects focused on batch & streaming processing. We try to give everyone the same foundations at the start of the meet up and go more expert along the way, covering both business value as well as digging deeper technically. =========
Sponsors
Thanks to Qubit (https://www.qubit.com) for providing the space, food & drinks on this meet up and to Datatonic (https://datatonic.com) for sponsoring this meet up.
