Borodin Quartet, Alexei Volodin – Mozart, Shostakovich
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – String Quartet in C K465 ’Dissonance’ Dmitry Shostakovich – Piano Quintet in G minor Op. 57 ”Originally founded in 1945 and given its present name ten years later, the Borodin Quartet continues to be closely associated with the works of Shostakovich, though his passionate Piano Quintet (1940) predates the ensemble’s founding.” – from the Wigmore Hall website (https://wigmore-hall.org.uk/whats-on/borodin-quartet-alexei-volodin-201901261930) You’ll need to buy your ticket on the Wigmore Hall website (https://wigmore-hall.org.uk/whats-on/borodin-quartet-alexei-volodin-201901261930) before you RSVP. My seat is stalls T14. If you’re open to sitting next to another member, do mention your seat number (and whether stalls or balcony) in the comments below, for group members who may want to book a neighbouring seat. At 7 p.m., half an hour before the concert, I’ll be in the Bechstein Room to meet you (or, if it’s closed, in the bar). In the days immediately prior, I’ll circulate details of arrangements to meet before the performance.

What we're about

We welcome anyone who enjoys listening to live chamber music: classical, modern and contemporary. You don’t have to be expert, just an enthusiast.

Key places for us are Wigmore Hall and Kings Place. We are also targeting the Barbican and Milton Court at the Guildhall School of Music. We’re always interested in new venues, and would love to hear from anyone interested in hosting an event.

There will be plans to have something to eat or drink beforehand or afterward – do join in.
