Lets meet up and sing traditional melodies from around the World!
"The London Choir for Music of the World" Welcome to our choir!. We'll start our November/December 2018 activities this Monday 12th November and would love to have you there. We learn tunes BY EAR with the occasional score, but anyway all is taught by listening/repeating. We go from simple rounds to arrangements for 3-4 parts. The choir's repertoire is from around the world exploring different styles, languages, etc. We have been on the road for several years initially under the leadership of Judith Silver and now Camilo Menjura (www.menjuramusic.com) We meet once a week (Mondays 7-9pm) @ SOAS University and explore songs, chants and unison & harmony arrangements of pieces of music coming from different traditions from a Russian Lullaby to a Jewish Chant or from a Colombian Cumbia to a Welsh folk song. - - - We have done two recordings from our last two terms, here sharing some links so you can listen to what we did: RECORDING #1 [6 tracks] http://www.menjuramusic.com/soas-recording.html RECORDING #2 [7 tracks] http://www.menjuramusic.com/SOAS_CD_2018.html VENUE We meet at SOAS University: Bloomsbury, London WC1H 0XG, Russell Sq/Euston/Holborn Tube.
