There are Christmas markets almost everywhere in Germany, but the Christkindlesmarkt in Nuremberg in known far beyond its local region. It's beautiful, it's traditional, it's busy, it's yummy and it'll be all yours to explore if you join us on this trip to Nuremberg.

One good thing about Nuremberg is that it's quite cold in winter, so the mulled wine tastes even better. And you need plenty of it to keep you warm... Maybe even with a little bit extra of spirit :-)

You'll never be short of choice of what to eat. One of the local specialities is Nurnberger Rostbratwurstchen, mini sausages eaten in a bread roll. Simple, but really tasty. Or you just tug into a Lebkuchen (gingerbread), since Nurnberg is the Lebkuchen capital.

German cuisine is not the lightest, but it's yummy, and the food in Frankonia, the region around Nuremberg, is great. We'll enjoy dinner in the Heilig Geist Spital restaurant, a former hospital. The current building was built in 1511. The dinner is not included in the price of the trip.

Frankenwein (the wine of the Frankonia wine region) is really yummy. We won't visit the wine region (it's winter anyway), but you'll be able to enjoy the wine in restaurants.

A warning for the vegans among you... Vegetarians will easily find something to eat, but it is a bit more difficult for vegans...

Besides exploring Nurnberg, we will also visit Vierzehnheiligen (a breath taking baroque church), Bamberg (a UNESCO world heritage site) and Regensburg (a beautiful medieval city).

The weekend costs £265, which includes accommodation in twin rooms in a hotel in the city centre, breakfast, airport transfer and train tickets for our day trips to Bamberg and Regensburg.

Not included are the flight London - Nuremberg, lunch, dinner and entrance fees to attractions in Nuremberg, Bamberg and Regensburg.

Single rooms can be booked for an additional £80.

The trip doesn't include organised tours of the cities that we're going to visit. You'll be exploring them at your own pace. All cities are quite small and it is very easy to find your way around.

10/12, 22:35 - 23:25, Nuremberg - London Stansted, RyanAir

Please bring WARM clothes, gloves, woolly hat, etc. This area can be VERY cold and windy. There could also be snow !!! Perfect conditions for mulled wine, though :-) :-) :-)
