Pop-Up Opera, Rossini's comedy 'L'Italiana in Algeri'; Stour Space; only £15

Details
"Super talented singers… beautifully sung and superbly, expressively acted” The Times
Rossini's comedy caper comes to Hackney Wick this summer!
We've already seen it once in Peckham (5th July) and our members really loved it - 'What a great slapstick farce', 'even better than the last one' and 'Fantastic performance, up close and fun'.
Pop-up Opera is an innovative touring opera company. They broaden the appeal of opera by taking it into unusual spaces.
They also make it fun, fresh and intimate!
We've followed their mini London tours for the last few seasons and loved every inventive, quirky staging.
Sung in Italian with captions in English, 'Italian Girl in Algiers' will mesh Rossini's comedy with Las Vegas dazzle and glamour, laughs against a backdrop of glitz.

'L'Italiana in Algeri' (The Italian Girl in Algiers)
Rossini meets Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas!
Against a backdrop of glitz and grit at the Algiers Hotel, Lindoro is down on his luck and in debt to the Algiers' corrupt and extravagant owner, Mustafa.
Lindoro's girlfriend, Isabella, arrives in Vegas under the pretence of auditioning as a show-girl to try and get Lindoro out of this mess.
Mustafa is enraptured by the headstrong Isabella: but will she be seduced by his power and money?
The surreal and dangerous world of Las Vegas breathes new life into Rossini's absurd exotic comedy, as love and fidelity compete.
'L'italiana in Algeri' premiered in Venice on 22 May 1813. The music is characteristic of Rossini's stye, remarkable for its fusion of sustained, manic energy with elegant pristine melodies.
