Climate change is discussed endlessly, it seems, but with little signs of a consensus emerging on what are the practical actions that need to be taken. Why are people so divided on this issue? Are there any grounds for being hopeful about the future of the global conversation on climate change?

According to social researcher Rebecca Huntley, the key to progress on climate change is in the psychology of human attitudes. People will not be persuaded simply by hearing more climate science. Instead, much more attention needs to be given to the emotional dimension of communications.

Rebecca will be joining London Futurists to discuss themes from her recently published book "How to talk about climate change in a way that makes a difference", https://www.amazon.co.uk/About-Climate-Change-Makes-Difference/dp/1911632760/

This book provides a toolkit for understanding our emotional responses to climate change and how we can have meaningful conversations across dividing lines. As such, it provides a potential template for more productive discussions about other deeply contentious issues regarding future scenarios.
