# Speakers

## James Edwards-Jones, Backend Engineer (Manage Team) at GitLab
### Git tips and tricks: things I’ve learnt by watching the experts

Travel enthusiast and wannabe YouTuber, James can mostly be found working on Single Sign On for GitLab.com, jumping on calls with customers and reviewing code. He knows his way around the GitLab codebase having seen the company grow from 100 employees to 1000, so feel free to reach out with any question no matter how specific.

## Steve Challis, Strategic Account Leader at GitLab
### Value Stream Management

Steve Challis has spent 15 years working with hyper growth software businesses in EMEA spanning multiple industries. One thing that is a constant is the inefficiencies in the way that organisations work, whether it be through ineffective internal communications, wasted cycles in software development or started projects that never finish. Fueled by the desire to solve this challenge he looked for universal theories that might reduce or remove these inefficiencies. At the core of almost everyone be it lean, agile or 6 sigma practices lies Value Stream Management. Steve will take 30 minutes describing what VSM is, how it is applicable to software delivery (and beyond) and how you can start your own initiative within your own organisations.
