Feeding Haskell to Ambiants - Part 1
Details
Another hands on session of solving Haskell Puzzles. This month with we will be starting try to code a solution to the ICFP Programming Contest 2004 (https://alliance.seas.upenn.edu/~plclub/cgi-bin/contest/task.php) task: "Dinner with Ambiants".
Generally, the aim is for everybody to improve their Haskell skills, by solving small puzzles, sharing their solutions and seeing how others solve the same puzzles. There will be a variety of puzzles suitable for (almost) all levels of programmer. Easy puzzles for beginners. More advanced puzzles for the more experienced. Initially, these will be focused towards our next project (more news at the meeting), so everybody is ready.
Each puzzle will be one step on the journey from novice to master, breaking the learning down into tiny chunks. And we want you to help build the puzzles too! Everyone can help, just contribute one puzzle each, at whatever level, and soon there will be a thriving set of puzzles.
Solving the "Dinner with Ambiants" task will stretch over the next few meetings. In this meeting we will be building the base types to represent the data-model. Next month and the following meetings will cover a graphical visualiser, a simulation engine and a solver for actually solving the task.
This meeting is at SkillsMatter. You need to to register and let them know you are coming at: http://skillsmatter.com/event-details/home/feeding-haskell-to-ambiants-part-1
Arrive from 6pm. Meeting starts at 6-30pm and we will head to the pub afterwards.
