Cambridge 3: DrWatson.jl : The perfect sidekick to your scientific enquiries

Details
Come for a chill meetup, drink some coffee and meet other Julia users.
Pizza will be provided at 7:00pm,
and we will aim to start the main talk at 7:45pm.
(details below)/
For the short adhoc talks they will be occuring shortly after our main speaker (details on that below).
Feel welcome to give short demonstrations of anything you think is cool.
There will be plenty of time for anyone who wishes to give a 5-10 minute half-planned talk, if one is so inclined.
If you are interested, comment below, or post in the #cambridge channel on the JuliaLang slack.
If you decide on the night that you are keen to give a short talk, that is probably fine too (time permitting).

## DrWatson.jl : The perfect sidekick to your scientific enquiries
Your scripts won't work anymore because you renamed some seemingly unrelated folder or file.
You accidentally overwrote a file because your naming convention was not as unique as you thought.
You received code from a colleague but you just can't get it to work. If this sounds familiar, then this talk is definitely for you.
We will look at various ideas that may help streamline your scientific work, and how DrWatson.jl can help you:
- set up reproducible projects structures and navigate them efficiently
- simplify naming for your files
- protect you from accidentally losing data
- prepare computation jobs and collect the results
What started as a small collection of tools George Datseris and I (Jonas Isensee) wrote for ourselves has
become a respectable Julia library thanks to the great community response the willingness to help out and contribute. Today DrWatson.jl is about you - your needs and your ideas. After this talk we will have the chance to talk about what kinds of utilities YOU use or need in your daily work. Maybe we can help you to find a better solution or maybe you can contribute your existing solution to DrWatson and make it available to everyone.

## Our speaker: Jonas Isensee
Jonas is a Master's student in physics at the Georg-August University in Göttingen, Germany.
Currently he is visiting the University of Cambridge as part of the European Erasmus+ programme.
His interests include the study of complex systems and self-organization in (biological) systems.
Jonas has over two years of experience in Julia, and most of his work was spent on developing TimeseriesPrediction.jl. Along the way he also had the chance to work on a range of other projects such as DrWatson.jl.
