Mesos User Group #14

Details
Hi Everyone, getting things up and running again for the New Year with lots already planned! Thanks to Capita for hosting us and also to Mesosphere providing food and drink for the event. The plan is as follows;
6.30pm - Arrive - Food, Drink Socialising
7pm - Talk 1 - Darren Davison, Capita - DC/OS Journey
A brief talk explaining the journey the Orbit team have been on with DC/OS; from early technical evaluations and comparisons through to where we are today, just short of the production deployment. It will cover selection and evaluation, and why we thought DC/OS was right for us. As we started to go deeper with the technology and a migration, we found good and bad along the way and were taken by surprise by a number of features of the project. DC/OS turned out to be a key part of what we needed, but not the only one - I'll explain what the ecosystem is that we grew around it. We've learned a lot over the last 9 months, hopefully this will be useful for anyone about to embark on a similar journey
7.45pm Talk 2 - Michael Hausenblas, Mesosphere - Developing with DC/OS
While DC/OS is a powerful platform, it is not widely know how to actually develop with DC/OS. By that I don't mean develop for DC/OS, that is, developing a Universe package or writing a Mesos framework. I mean by it how you go about developing your services on top of DC/OS as a runtime: we will cover best practices around the development process, incl. CI/CD, perf testing and debugging.
8.30pm Finish
Look forward to seeing you all there!
