Join us as we brave the streets of central London, armed only with our cameras, as Zombies from all walks of life arise from their crypts to startle the unsuspecting populance in aid of charity. Always an amazing and memorable day of street photography, we'll meet an hour prior to the start of the Zombie Walk to have a social chat, view photos from past years, and discuss setting and compositions. Sadly, the organisers have announced that this is the last year they will be hosting the event so don't miss out! This year's charity is City Harvest, whose mission is to rapidly rescue surplus food and use it to feed those who need it most. 100% of funds received from this event will be donated to City Harvest on your behalf. Along with our RSVP, you'll need to register for the event via this link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/world-zombie-day-london-end-times-tickets-65855735277 Note: For those not dressing up in costume (feel free to though!) you'll need to register as Photographer/Press. Please be aware of event organizers' FAQ and conditions for attendance. Recommended equipment: Walk around/kit lens (eg 18-55mm,[masked]mm) Telephoto lens (eg[masked]mm) Flash (eg speedlight) - optional Note: This tour is also suitable for "phone only" photographers The meeting place is Yet To Be Announced as the Zombie Walk route has not been realeased. We'll message attending members a pub or cafe location once the Zombie Walk route is known. As people spread out quickly in such events and stay for different lengths of time we won't have a post-walk meeting place. Note: This event is combined with 2 other photography Meetup groups that I run so I'll update RSVP numbers accordingly (ie myself +3 will mean 3 members from other groups attending).
Join us on a trip to photograph the amazingly cute, elusive, and delightful red squirrels in the only walk-through squirrel enclosure in the UK! We'll travel early(ish) so we can arrive in time for when they're at their most active - feeding time! There we'll have an information session from one of the resident keepers at the centre. Following our squirrel adventure, we will move on to different native species of the UK, including pine martins, pole cats, Scottish wildcats, badgers, hedgehogs, and red deer. Also keep an eye out for dragonflies and damselflies on your travels. Check out the lovely photos taken by some of our members at the previous (sold out) event! https://www.meetup.com/land-wild/events/264531679/ Squirrel and venue information: A native species of the UK, the red squirrel is unfortunately now classed as "Threatened" due to the introduction of the grey squirrel in the 1870's. It is estimated that only 15,000 red squirrels survive in England compared with upwards of 2 million grey squirrels! Our destination, the British Wildlife Centre, plays an important part in the breeding and reintroduction of the red squirrel back into the wild to re-establish new colonies, along with other native species breeding and reintroduction programs. "In the heart of the East Surrey countryside, the British Wildlife Centre is home to the UK’s finest collection of native species, many rarely seen in the wild. Our animals live in large enclosures, landscaped to reflect their natural habitats. Here you can visit Britain’s first walk-throughred squirrel enclosure and stroll among free-ranging red squirrels in their own copse."
