What we're about
Welcome to London Outdoor Photography, Photo walks!
This meetup is for anyone interested in photography. All abilities are welcome and the emphasis will be on sharing our knowledge in a fun and relaxed way, learning as we explore London and beyond.
It makes no difference whether you have the latest expensive camera gear or a camera phone, come along and we'll find plenty of exciting things to photograph.
Our events will take us to some of the most iconic locations where you can find that โpostcard" (or Instagram)ย shot but we will be looking for more than that, your professional guide will encourage you to use your imagination and get creative with your photography. If you are new to photography you will have the opportunity to understand the subject better and improve your picture-taking.
Under UK Photo Tours, we run multi-day tours and workshops, traveling to Englandโs picturesque Lake District, photograph nightscapes in Norfolk, rugged Jurassic Coast in Dorset, and Scotlandโs incredible Isle of Skye and Glencoe for the breathtaking scenery.
Our wildlife workshops venture to some of the most spectacular wildlife locations in the UK, such as witnessing the birth of Atlantic Grey Seal Pups in Norfolk, charismatic Puffins on the Farne Islands, and the Norfolk Snettisham Spectacular, where over 100,000 wading birds take to the air.
We offer a variety of popular day trips during the year, including:
Stonehenge at sunset
Bodiam Castle
Vintage Airshows
Medieval Jousting
...and we offer workshops on macro photography, astrophotography (including moon photography), bubble photography, and water drop photography.
We look forward to seeing you at one of our events soon.

Dear Lords, Ladies, and photographic squires!
Loxwood Joust, the U.K.'s most spectacular medieval festival, is back on again this year and we're going to practice some dramatic action photography!
This amazing extravaganza is held in the picturesque woodlands of West Sussex and features full-contact jousting, along with other daring displays of weaponry, including archery, muskets, and cannon fire as armored knights and their retainers prepare to meet in great numbers for the melee on the thunderous battlefield, granting us many photographic opportunities.
You will also be able to "wander the Living History Village, situated in the Mediaeval Meadow, where inhabitants live and work exactly as they would have in the middle ages. Peruse their traditional wares in the Mediaeval Marketplace, where traders and hawkers vie for your attention and wandering minstrels, dance troupes, and a court jester entertains the crowds throughout the day." So a number of interesting and unusual portrait possibilities are available.
Almost 50 re-enactment groups take part in Loxwood Joust each year so it is on a scale, unlike many other medieval events.
Our previous photographic scouts scoured Loxwood for the best photographic spots and opportunities, devising battle tactics to enable you to capture some amazing shots!
You can see some of our past photos of the Loxwood Medieval Joust and battles here.
Please note: There will be a maximum of 7 participants (plus yourphoto guide) so get in early! The Loxwood Joust event ends around[masked] pm, so we expect to leave the event soon after and arrive back in central London around 7 pm.

Join us for an amazing 5-day / 4-night photo tour capturing the year's best meteor shower!
This year, we're heading to Bodmin Moor, Cornwall, our dark sky destination of choice for the Perseid Meteor Shower.
Return transport from London plus accommodation on a farm in Cornwall is included.
The Perseid Meteor Shower is one of the most highly anticipated events in the astrophotography calendar, where this year's peak is estimated to peak at 77 meteors per hour!
With the meteor shower visible over several nights, we'll have the opportunity to take unique shots of the sky at various locations whilst practicing our Milky Way photos. Additionally, we'll keep an eye out for the rare and unique phenomenon of noctilucent clouds during the tour.
Our base for this tour is Haye Cornwall, a vegan farmstead retreat for rescue animals including ponies from the moor, beach-ride donkeys, and battery hen chickens who all deserved a better life. By staying at this location, we'll be helping with the costs of the animals' welfare.
We'll be situated just a few minutes drive from Bodmin Moor - the largest part of the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and designated an International Dark-Sky landscape in July 2017.
The Hurlers standing stones, a Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age series of stone circles over 2,000 years old, is one of our location options.
Nearby are several old derelict tin mines which are perfect foreground elements for night sky photography. Scaling up to The Cheesewring, an interesting arrangement of stacked smooth stones above the Moor is another option.
During the tour, we'll also have the opportunity to explore other attractions such as the rapids of Golitha Falls and the rugged south coast beaches. If the skies prove to be troublesome for astrophotography, we'll still be able to make the most of our daytime by exploring the unique and stunning landscapes and seascapes.
Our astrophotography workshop offers you comprehensive knowledge and technical skills to capture awe-inspiring shots of the Perseid Meteor Shower. We'll teach you how to plan your shoots, what camera settings to use, and how to enhance your photographs with post-processing software.
I'll have multiple highly regarded astrophotography lenses available to share between the group if required.
1 x Samyang 14mm f/2.8 Canon fit
1 x Samyang 14mm f/2.8 Nikon fit
1 x Samyang 14mm f/2.8 Sony E mount fit
We offer two pricing options:
- Own room with ยฃ895 per person (1 sold, 2 remaining)
- Twin-share room for ยฃ650 per person. (2 sold, 0 remaining)
A ยฃ50 deposit is required via Meetup, and a 50% balance of the total price is to be paid within seven days via bank transfer to secure your spot. Final balance due 60 days prior to departure.
