Improving productivity of project controls by 50% using advanced data analytics

Definition: “Project Controls are the data gathering, data management and analytical processes used to predict, understand and constructively influence the time and cost outcomes of a project or programme; through the communication of information in formats that assist effective management and decision making." They form a key part of a wide range of projects but also feature in agile projects too.

The delay to Crossrail has also brought focus to the overall effectiveness of project controls; organisations are beginning to ask questions of their overall effectiveness. The existing project controls activities tend to be relatively manpower intensive. This presents a great opportunity for us to explore a new approach. By setting a bold target of 50% we can encourage our community to think outside of the box.

On 9 Oct we will be running an interactive session comprising 3 elements:

*10 min case studies from members of the community who are taking action to address the challenge. If you have an examples that you can share then please get in touch – no sales pitches please.

*Results from the community based engagement in June (see below).

*An interactive workshop where we will be exploring specific opportunities for improvement which we can work on collaboratively over the coming months.

In the June workshop Projecting Success provided a community based engagement exercise to a number of organisations to explore the art of the possible with how to automate repetitive processes on the basis that the results could be shared with the community. They are now offering a free development opportunity to develop minimum viable products to explore how we can improve current methods, including exploring opportunities for disruption. If you are interested then please get in touch via [masked]

This event will only be successful if we work together for the benefit of the community so please get in touch. Whether you are a project controls, data or project professional, there will be something for everyone.

This is the first of our challenge based events and if it is a success we’ll be expanding it into areas of project delivery. Lets shake the tree and transform how projects are delivered.
