What we're about

Hello! Thanks for being a part of my Group.

I'm Declan McHugh, Guide for 'Serial Killers:The Blood & Tears Walk' - a two hour London Walk about the psychology & behaviour of TWELVE serial killers: London, British & International.

The Tour has 472 5-star reviews on TripAdvisor, and I've performed it to over 60,000 people from all over the world in the last 22 years.

It takes place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights at 7-9pm.

Jack the Ripper is inevitably part of the Tour - but I also deal with eleven other serial killers, to compare mindsets and behaviours.

I've radically reworked (and renamed!) the Tour during Lockdown. It used to be 65% about serial killers, and had 35% other creepy stuff. It's now 100% about serial killers. That's an extra 45 minutes worth of new serial killer material, which I am really excited to share with you! Plus, I now illustrate what I talk about with a photo folder.

I have a research background, but I'm also an ex-actor. I am definitely NOT dry and academic. There is a lot of information but I try hard to present it in a memorable, absorbing way. I specialise in cinematic story-telling with lots of atmosphere.

My Tour has an ethos. I do NOT glorify/admire/worship serial killers. I am interested in their psychology, so there are profiling exercises and I talk about M.O, etc. The material is grim, but if you want to wallow in gore, you'll have to find a different Tour. This Tour is for thinking adults. As my tagline goes: 'SERIAL KILLERS - SERIOUSLY'.

You might like to know that I wrote 'Bloody London' which has sold more than 8,500 copies by May 2021, and has been reprinted. The book features 16 London serial killers, and stacks more grim stuff from London's history. I sign it at the end of the Tour for £7 - the same price as the shops sell it.

So check the calendar, pick a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday night and come along, either by yourself or with a friend or two. I look forward to meeting you...I am friendly and welcoming, connect with people, and it's my mission to make the tour absorbing and immersive. Every time.

I've saved the best for last: the price of the Tour is normally £15 for adults (15+) and £10 for children (12-14). However for people in this Meet-up Group I am trialing a 20% reduction, making the price £12 for adults and £8 for children. Trust me, that is an unbeatable price for this Tour.......

'Serial Killers: The Blood & Tears Walk'

Barbican

£13.00

'Serial Killers: The Blood & Tears Walk' meets right outside Barbican underground station's only exit on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights at 7pm-9pm. Look for the sign on my rucksack on the ground.

** Most London True Crime or Serial Killer Tours just feature Jack the Ripper. He has a section on my Tour - but I feature ELEVEN other London Serial Killers as well!

** There are profiling exercises on the Tour, and increasingly creepy locations.

** WARNING. Allow an extra 20 minutes travelling time. If you don't do that, you will probably miss the Tour.

Thousands have missed this Tour in the last 22 years because they didn't realise that there are hundreds of underground train delays EVERY HOUR in London.

I have go with the people who turn up on time. I turn off my mobile phone to concentrate on the Tour, and I immediately go into dark alleys where you won't find me if you turn up late. WARNING **

** WARNING. I would suggest you need to have a strong interest in Serial KIllers before coming on this Tour.

Although I deliberately do not concentrate on gore, being much more interested in psychology, the material is grim and disturbing, and not for the faint-hearted. WARNING **
