What we're about

LONDON SHOAL OF ART MEETUP runs regular weekly drawing and painting sessions, online and in person. All abilities Welcome. Tuition available is desired.

We are online during the lockdown but have been getting together in London for over 10 years.

We allow time for people to share their work and chat as well as to learn and to make art together.

Subjects include portraits, landscape and still life. We also look at art in museums and galleries for inspiration.

A Closer Look - Figure Drawing Studies

Online event

£12.00

Join this friendly online drawing group to refresh your skills, look again at anatomy, see things differently, manage short and long pose timings, & develop your drawings from sketches !

Why explore figure drawing?

If you want to achieve a sense of 3 dimensionality of the human figure, you need to concentrate on the ‘interior’ body, rather then just the ‘outline’. To gain access to this understanding of drawing the human form, we need to take a step back and look at how we can achieve this - improving anatomical knowledge, studying the great artists' drawings of the past and exploring how to 'feel the underlaying form' in different exercises, are some of the ways.

What will we do?

In these interactive sessions we will explore both the architecture of the body as well work with different mediums to get the best out of the pose. This includes pencils, inks, pencils, collage, acrylic etc and mix mediums.
Lets also look at how we can develop our drawings rather than build up a huge pile never to be looked at again!
There will usually be a model to work from or high quality imagery and drawing studies.

Who's this suitable for ?

Beginners are welcome so you can improve basic skills and increase your confidence. More experienced scribblers, illustrators or artists can dedicate time to loosening up, try out new techniques and learn to really ‘see’ the form again.
