WordPress London October Meetup

  • Oct 9, 2014 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Octobers Meetup brings with it some exciting news about WordCamp London! Lots to catch up on and plenty of great WordPress discussions to be had.

Speaking at a WordCamp

WordCamp London will be 20th - 22nd March. We're about to open the call for speakers and we'd love for as many of the WPLDN meetup to apply as possible. In this presentation I'll share with you some of my knowledge and experience as both a WordCamp organiser and a speaker. I'll talk about why you might want to speak at a WordCamp, how to put together your application, how the speaker selection process works, and what speaking at a WordCamp involves. I'll also answer any questions about WordCamp London and about the speaking process.

Presented by Siobhan McKeown. Siobhan works at Audrey Capital where she is working on a book about the history of the WordPress project. She’s also active in the WordPress documentation project. She’s an experienced WordCamp organiser, having helped organise WordCamp Europe, WordCamp London, and WordCamp San Francisco. She's spoken at WordPress events around the world including San Francisco, Baroda, Bangkok, Sofia, Porto, and Seattle.

WP-API

Access your WordPress site's data through an easy-to-use HTTP REST API

Presented by Ryan McCue. Ryan is a WordPress core contributor, and the lead developer of the SimplePie RSS/Atom parsing library included with WordPress. He’s also the developer of the popular Requests HTTP library, used by projects such as WP-CLI. Ryan has been involved in the WordPress community for more than seven years, and is currently leading development of the JSON REST API project aiming for inclusion into WP 4.1. In what’s left of his time, he’s a developer at Human Made, a top-tier WordPress agency, working on WordPress.com VIP projects as well as the Happytables restaurant website platform.

Sharing knowledge

Jenny will be speaking about the importance of sharing knowledge and how to generate topic ideas to share with the community.

Presented by Jenny Wong. Jenny is a web developer at Human Made. Her love for development goes beyond the screen & is an advocate of both the PHP and WordPress communities.
As a WordCamp speaker, PHP North West organiser and PHP Women evangelist, she loudly cheers people on to share knowledge & contribute back to both communities.

P.S. Because we sometimes serve beer to kick off the night, this meetup is restricted to people over 18.

Hey Guys, Anyone familiar with Pulling URI's into a wordpress database. I'm looking to JV with a developer that can build a simple but secure script. Would rather work with someone here than from Elance. The database will need to hold about 5.5 Million Records so this is something that I need advice on.
