★ The Sessions
✍️ - Making WordPress Sustainable
The internet appears clean, but behind the scenes, it consumes as much electricity as the UK and has a carbon footprint equal to global aviation.
WordPress is the world's most popular CMS, so if the WordPress community embraces sustainability as a core value, we can make a positive impact in tackling climate change.
The talk will introduce web sustainability and cover some key actions that could be taken in WordPress projects and products to reduce our carbon footprint.
🗣 - Presented by Tom Greenwood. Tom is the co-founder of the London agency Wholegrain Digital, a Certified B Corp, and a specialist in web performance and sustainability. He is author of the new book, Sustainable Web Design, from A Book Apart, and editor of the monthly green web newsletter, Curiously Green. Follow Tom @eatwholegrain (https://twitter.com/eatwholegrain)
✍️ - So how do you actually fix a hacked site?
How do you fix your clients hacked site, and know the hack has gone?
Tim will take you step-by-step through a process of deep cleaning a site to make sure it's free from any unpleasantness. Using WP-CLI and command-line tools to restore sites quickly, and safely this process helps deal with almost any stubborn hack.
🗣 - Presented by Tim Nash. Tim is a WordPress Security Consultant. He helps organisations become more security conscious and helps them keep themselves and you safe on the web. He is also known to give the odd talk here and there. As well as writing for and occasionally staring in some of the weirdest security improv, comedy talks you are likely to have never seen. Tims own site https://timnash.co.uk is where he writes about everything from security to home automation with a healthy dose of WordPress and humour. Follow Tim @tnash (https://twitter.com/tnash)
