Here's the agenda for next week:
7.00pm Welcome
7:10 pm - What's New In BuddyPress 1.5
BuddyPress core developer Paul Gibbs will walk through the changes in the latest release of the popular social networking plugin. Paul will be giving a brief introduction to BuddyPress (for the uninitiated!), followed by a discussion of some of the new features and improvements in BuddyPress 1.5. Whether you've never used BuddyPress before, or you're a developer who wants to learn more about BP 1.5, there'll be something for you.
7:40 - Advanced search with Wordpress and SOLR
Apache’s SOLR search server is quickly becoming the favoured choice for developers looking to use build powerful search tools. Headshift developer Shakur Shidane will give an overview of why you might use a tool like SOLR to provide more powerful search tools to users, what problems you can solve with it, and how to use it best, and lessons he’s learned in 9 months of production use.
8:00 - Selling music using WordPress and WP e-Commerce
Setting up a music store online doesn’t have to be difficult. Actually it can be easy. Jeff is going to show you how you can have the site up and ready in minutes. No coding necessary.
From activating a few Plugins, uploading the music files, adding the Products and letting the music play. After his quick demo feel free to throw him in the deep end with questions about anything e-commerce (he usually floats)
8.30 To the pub!
Due to time constraints we are going to start our presentations at 7.00 this month, so try to arrive a little early to get some refreshments and find a seat. We also have to make sure that we leave the building quickly at the end, as it's an office and needs to be closed up. After the presentations, feel free to pop along to The Anchor Tap (28 Horselydown Lane, London SE1 2LN) for further drinks and WordPress banter.
