Love YA fiction and wish you had more opportunities to enthuse about it? Feel like trying some new titles but don't know where to start? Or do you simply fancy a book club where we'll never make you read War & Peace (unless someone turns it into a YA graphic novel)?
The London YA Book Club is for anyone with any level of interest in Young Adult fiction. All are welcome, whether you worship Katniss or Harry Potter, have a fondness for Roald Dahl or Becky Albertalli, or know nothing about the genre at all!
We try to read a mixture of titles - classics and new favourites, fantasy and sci-fi, coming-of-age and historical fiction - and we always welcome suggestions for future reads. Feel free to browse through our past events to see the kind of things we've covered.
We meet monthly, usually on a Wednesday toward the end of the month. Our current venue is a Starbucks near Tottenham Court Road tube station.
Please feel free to message with any questions. And hopefully we'll see you at a Meetup soon!
A classic for Christmas - break out the Turkish delight and throw on your fur coat as we step through the wardrobe and follow the Pevensie children into Narnia.
(If you've read it already and fancy a bit extra, I also recommend reading The Magician's Nephew - basically Narnia:Origin).
The Bridge Theatre have a production of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe over November/December which you might also like to check out!
I'm sure I'm not the only one who's excited for Greta Gerwig's upcoming adaptation of Little Women. It's got Laura Dern *and* Meryl Streep in it, for crying out loud. What better excuse to re-read this cosy classic over the Christmas break? Join us in January to welcome in the new year with a chat about this old favourite. (Or just watch the film and come along anyway, probably fine)
