New Meetup: Highgate Cemetary tour

From: Sarah B.

Announcing a new Meetup for London Haunts and Horrors!

What: Highgate Cemetary tour

When: Saturday, November 13,[masked]:30 PM

Where: Highgate Cemetery
Swain's Lane N6 6PJ

We will be touring the West Cemetary at Highgate. Each tour is for a maximum of 15 people on a ?first come, first served? basis. It is advisable, especially in holiday seasons, to come at least half an hour before the scheduled time. Sundays are particularly popular and it is sometimes not possible to accommodate everyone wishing to visit.

Advance bookings for this tour are not an option so we just have to show up and hope for the best. Tours run every hour until 3 so hopefully we can make the 1:00 or 2:00. Hopefully it will be slower since it's right after Halloween.

Tickets are ?7 per person, CASH ONLY, and paid directly to the tour guide.

Please note the following:

?This is a 'working' cemetery, with burials and stone settings taking place on a regular basis. Visitors are asked to dress appropriately and to be sensitive to the needs of mourners and grave owners.
?The average length of the West tour is one hour.
?Surfaces are uneven and some of the tour is uphill. In wet conditions, it is advisable to wear walking shoes or boots.
?There are toilet facilities in the cemetery.

As Highgate is still a working cemetery, it is not open to visitors other than grave owners for the 30 minutes before and during the course of funerals. Regretably, it is not possible to publish dates and times of every funeral that takes place. Visitors arriving at the gates will be advised if a funeral is due to take place during their visit and tickets purchased before a funeral will be respected for the rest of the day.
