Do you like Lego? Do you live in London? Are you old enough to buy a drink in a pub?
This is an early evening get-together for Adult Fans Of Lego, or AFOLs for short, based in or near London. It is suitable for anyone over the age of 18 who likes to build with Lego, no matter what their skill-level is. Whether you live in London or are visiting from elsewhere, you are welcome to join us in having fun with Lego.
We get together on the second Monday of each month. Once upon a time, we used to meet in the function room of a pub near Euston station, but since the SARS-CoV-2 virus came along, our Meetups have all been held via Zoom. Later in 2021, we hope to resume real-life meetups in central London but not until it's safe to do so.
Each monthly Meetup has a different theme, which usually involves building somethign with Lego, but sometimes learning about techniques or trading or even competitions. We try to keep it varied so there's something for everyone.
People - We attract all sorts of people from a wide range of backgrounds. We are about 60:40 male:female. Attendance usually numbers 40-50 people for pub meetups, and 25-30 for online meetups.
Age range - we have members in their late teens, 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s, with 30s being the median group - just.
Photos - please upload a recognisable photo of yourself in your Meetup profile. It makes it easier for us to recognise and welcome newcomers. Also, be aware members may take pics at Meetups and upload to one of our social media sites, so you need to be comfortable with a picture of yourself appearing online.
Donations - We ask for a contribution £5 per Meetup. This covers Meetup fees, website fees, postage, some Lego parts from time to time etc.
N.B. We are a Recognised Lego User Group (RLUG), meaning we are supported by The LEGO Group in Denmark and have a good relationship with them. However, we are neither controlled by the company nor sponsored by them.
