Some of the questions we will look to discuss will include:
- Have there been any major Garbage Collection changes in Java 9?
- When should you think about Garbage Collection tuning your application rather than undertaking other performance improvements?
- What are the different collectors available in OpenJDK/Oracle JDK and when should you think about selecting a different collector?
- What options are Garbage Collection performance improvement options beyond OpenJDK/Oracle JDK?
- How do I get Garbage Collection information out of the JVM and in what format? Does this process impact / harm my application?
- What tooling can help me interpret the data?
- What are some go-to resources for understanding how Garbage Collection works in Java?
