What we're about
Welcome to the Long Beach (LBC) Writers Critique Group! We are a group of writers who meet, discuss craft and critique one another's writing in Long Beach, California.
The LBC Writers Critique Group meets the second and fourth Mondays from 7pm-9pm at the Barnes and Noble in Marina Pacifica. We are a critiquing group, not a social meeting place. Come early if you wish to gab, but be prepared to start critiquing promptly at 7:00.
Here are the few rules for our forum:
-To be critiqued, your work must be saved as a rich text format (.rtf) file, be no longer than 5000 words and be posted in the appropriate weekly folder one week before the meeting. Feel free to post additional chapters/background/etc. in your personal folder if you want to provide more context and doing so would take you beyond our 5000 word limit.
-Every member is welcome to include additional chapters/archive material (beyond the 5000 word limit) in his/her personal folder. Let us know when you post additional material so that we'll know to check! -If you want comments directed to a certain area (e.g. character believability, voice, specific story sequence, etc.) let the group know and we will focus our attention accordingly.
-Be compassionate with comments -- while constructive criticism is very beneficial to writers, it's also useful for writers to know what works in their compositions.
-If you've already RSVP'd for a meeting but are unable to make it and have already viewed writers' work, please consider passing along your comments to the author privately via individual email before the following Meetup. That's it! Have fun and keep writing.
