General meeting of the Long Beach Singles Yacht Club
LBSYC welcomes all sailors (and sailor wanna-be's) to their twice monthly meeting on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. Until further notice, we're meeting at the Crab Pot Restaurant on N. Marina Drive in Alamitos Bay (eastern Long Beach). Please refer to the Google Maps link (above for detailed directions. Meetings are FREE, but you're encouraged to patronize the Crab Pot by ordering food and/or drinks. Come and sign up to go sailing (several boats usually posted for day sails), socialize with like minded people and hear speakers on various subjects (usually boating related). Happy hour is 7 to 8. Meeting is 8 to 9. LBSYC is an Associate Member of the SCYA (Southern California Yachting Association) which allows our members to race their boats in most other yacht club events. Despite the name, being single is not a requirement. Membership and participation is open to all adults. We have a dock party or raft up at least once/month during the summer, house party at least once/month year round and boats posted for day sails and overnight trips (usually Catalina but sometimes to Newport or other locations.) If you own a boat and want the benefits of an SCYA yacht club in order to participate in racing, this is an inexpensive way to go. If you don't own a boat and want to go sailing here is your chance. The only expense you might incur is sharing the cost of food and mooring fees on an overnighter. Pot luck on daysails and bring your own beverage.

What we're about

Ahoy! Welcome to the Long Beach Singles Yacht Club (or LBSYC, formerly known as the "Long Beach Singles Sailing Association"), a volunteer organization formed in 1985 that promotes sailing, boating, socializing and preservation of our ocean resources.

We're the largest Yacht Club for singles in the Southern California area with many events and gatherings. We're also a member of the Southern California Yachting Association (SCYA), which gives our members access to official sailboat racing events and reciprocal privileges at certain other member Yacht Clubs. Membership in LBSYC is open to any person of acceptable character and personality, whether single or married.

About 35% of our members are boatowners (both power and sail) and 65% are "crew". No boating experience is needed; only a desire to sail, be on the water and have fun with other like-minded people.

Come join us for a variety of both land and water-based activities and social events. We do a variety of sail and powerboating, raftups, trips to Catalina and other local sailing destinations, parties and dances.

Daysails and cruises on Members' boats posted here are at NO CHARGE. We only ask that you bring some food to share with others.

We have regular meetings the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of most months at Seaside Cafe in the Seaport Marina Hotel, at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and 2nd St/Westminster in Long Beach. Social hour starts at 7pm and the regular meeting starts at 8 pm; there is a charge to defray the cost of the room and the food. See our event postings for further details regarding speakers and other interesting events at our regular meetings.

Feel free to peruse or RSVP to our sailings and other Meetup events posted here, but we give priority to our Members. Membership is $60 per year; it's one of the best deals either on or off the water. For more club and membership information, see our web page at "LBSYC.ORG". We also have a monthly newsletter (the "Bosun's Pipe") which can be viewed by members and downloaded online.
