We're a group of music, food, and fun lovers. We do potlucks with a live musical twist!

Currently, We have events on

Second Sundays Monthly at Paul & Kori's "Wake and Bake" from 11am, usually until 2 or 3pm.
These are breakfast potlucks and an open jam + song circle. Primarily strings. Light drums cool (1 person-ish)
There is no official leadership, and everyone gets to participate.
Potluck "participation" optional.
Just come and eat and don't sweat it.
Or, bring something amazing.
Musicians and music lovers welcome. You do not need to be a musician to come!

Third Wednesday Supper Songs at Shelley's
Third Wednesday evenings we gather at 7pm at Shelley's for a potluck. Bring a home made side if you can. If you can't, wine or beer or other to share.
Good whiskey makes heros.

Occasional Rail Shows - usually Saturday Night House Concerts at P&Ks.
Usually something special. 2 or 3 per year.

remember... "What happens at supper club, stays at supper club!"

There is no charge for the events, no money to the house
For house concerts we usually ask for sliding scale donations ($5-$20) that go 100% directly to the band. For Supper Songs musicians will put out a tip jar and sell cds or other merch if they desire.

Be Good in the Hood!

It should go without saying, but... I figure I gotta say it :-) I know just about everyone understands this stuff, but there are a couple specific requests we have....When visiting for wake-n-bake or supper songs, it is VERY IMPORTANT to be good in the hood! This means:

Park politely (and within the law)
park at LEAST 5 feet from anyone's driveway or mailbox-area and 10 feet from fire hydrant. There is a bunch of parking on Stuart, super close.

Be Nice with the neighbors! - if you manage to draw the attention of a neighbor, be super nice! Even if for some reason they have something negative to say (like "don't park there" or "why did you park there?" OR WHATEVER!) 🙂 Do whatever it takes to make it so the contact doesn't escalate into something bad.

Specific Parking Requests:
1. Please do not park in front of the neighbor directly across the street or the neighbors on either side of them.
2. Please do not park in front of the neighbors on either side of my or Shelley's house. Please plan to walk a couple hundred feet. :-) If you need to drop instruments or food or whatever, that is fine. Leave your car running blocking MY driveway, run the stuff in, and go park. Same for Shelley's. If there is space in my driveway, you are welcome to park there.

The point: the neighbors immediately surrounding have likely had the most impact and they know where it's coming from. So please just avoid the houses on either side of me, and the houses on either side of the neighbors across the street.

Also, if you want to go outside for a smoke or to make a call, hang out, get some air... etc, please use the back yard. We want to be stealth. We don't want it to be obvious there is an event happening. Save the front for arriving and leaving.

We gotta be pro! It is super important we keep things good in the hood! :-)

If you can't afford & would like to contribute, there are a couple volunteer spots.. • There will be a (leaderless) pick afterward, so bring your stringed instruments and kick it off! • Bring a side dish or dessert to share, beverages for you and your crew (and maybe some to share :-) "The House" will provide a main dish which will include meat. If you would like to provide a vegetarian main dish, please do :) It's Saturday night, help make it special with a special homemade treat! :-) • The biggest rules are: be nice, and respect the host's home and neighbors. The History: Formed in 2013 after Geoff Union moved from Austin, Texas to Golden, Colorado, Ragged Union has performed at festivals, concert series and events all across the USA, in England, and China. Past performances include IBMA Wide Open Bluegrass, John Hartford Memorial Festival, String Summit, Durango Meltdown, Shrewsbury Folk Festival (England), and the Qingdao International Beer Festival (China), to name a few. The band has released three albums, 2015’s ‘Hard Row to Hoe’, 2017’s ‘Time Captain’, and ‘Live at Leeds’, from Seven Arts Theatre in Leeds, England. Ragged Union’s music has appeared on celestial and satellite radio, and can be found on Spotify, Pandora, and anywhere folks listen to music, streaming or otherwise. The instrumental, Rabbit Dog (Time Captain), has been a regular spin on Sirius XM’s Bluegrass Junction during 2019. The Lineup: The band has been through many personnel changes, from a six piece featuring Christina Union on vocal, to the five piece unit with Benny ‘Burle’ Galloway on co-lead vocal and upright bass. 2020 brings in an all new quartet lineup, featuring: Geoff Union - flatpicker, singer, songwriter, originally from Fayetteville, NC. Performed in the Two High String Band from[masked]. Geoff is the main songsmith and long standing leader of Ragged Union. Elio Schiavo - mandolin and vocal, from Philadelphia, PA. Elio ran a touring band from New York, the Six Deadly Venoms, before moving out to Colorado in 2015. He’s a creative instrumental composer and skilled audio engineer. Geoff and Elio started working together in the spring of 2019, and anchored the 5 piece unit that traveled to China in August of 2019. Rebekah Durham - fiddle and vocal, from Midland, TX. A Julliard graduate, Rebekah is a world class violinist, and was a member of the Colorado group, The Ginny Mules. She also teaches violin and performs in classical ensembles. Anthony Giannotti - upright bass and vocal, from Brooklyn, New York. A Berkeley Music College graduate, Anthony is skilled in a variety of musical forms on the bass. He has his own solo project, The Elk Minister, sells vinyl records, and enjoys video and photo production. The Music: Ragged Union has evolved a little bit musically, from its beginning, where the focus was solidly on fast picking bluegrass and big harmony vocals, to a more progressive style of bluegrass. The new quartet, sans banjo, builds its sound on a guitar-based rhythmic drive, with a creative scope that ranges from the more obviously bluegrass, to an old-time string band vibe, and then to a boundary-less approach with changing feels, time signatures, and complex melodies. The sound has become quite liberated from predetermined limits. One thing that hasn’t changed is the live presentation - always an exciting intensity, and a joy of performance that is equally at home at the festival, in the listening room, or in a party atmosphere.
