What we're about

The Longmont Public Library is about books and a whole lot more! We have a handful of meetups that encourage community, learning, and enjoying shared interests. Check them out here or on our webpage (http://bit.ly/LibMeetups)or see information specific to our book groups (http://bit.ly/BookGrps). New members are always encouraged and welcomed at our meetups! In case of inclement weather, please visit our web calendar (http://bit.ly/LibCalendar) to confirm that the meetup is being held.

* ¡Hablemos! Let's Talk!: an informal Spanish/English conversation group in which intermediate or better Spanish and English language learners can practice their language skills. This meetup meets every Tuesday from 12 to 1 pm (bring your lunch!) and every Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.

* Genealogy Basics: Volunteers from the Longmont Genealogical Society offer their time, knowledge, and assistance to the public one Saturday each month. Participants are guided on how to search for their ancestors and use the various resources available both in and out of the library. Two internet computers are reserved for participant access to online resources such as Ancestry.com (for FREE in the library!). Bring any information you have -- name(s), a date of birth or death, a place, etc. and see what you can discover! This meetup meets every Fourth Saturday of the month from 10 am to 12 pm.

* Writers' Group: This group is for patrons who are at least 18-years-old and at any point in their writing endeavors. The meetup is sometimes joined by inspiring and helpful speakers or presenters, so be sure to check the Library's online calendar for specifics! (http://bit.ly/LibCalendar) This meetup meets every Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 pm. First and third Tuesdays are open write/sharing. Second and fourth Tuesdays are discussion and meeting.

* First Thursdays Book Group: This meetup is currently reading nonfiction and memoirs. See their list of chosen books for the year (http://bit.ly/BookGrps). They meet on the First Thursday of each month at 2 pm.

* Second Mondays Book Group: This meetup is focusing on fiction novels. See their list of chosen books (http://bit.ly/BookGrps). They meet the Second Monday of each month at 7 pm.

No registration is ever required for these meetups, and they are always free. Join us!
