Blender 2.79 Release Showcase @ Pasadena Media Studios

This will be a special presentation on animation and visual effects followed by a blender 2.79 release showcase. Pasadena Media is co-sponsoring and co-hosting the event.

Pasadena Media is a fantastic resource for those in the San Gabriel Valley and Foothills area. This will be the first among many collaborations with the blender community. This is an excellent opportunity to get to know the crew and find out about opportunities to get involved.

I encourage you to come out and see the facilities and enjoy the event during Innovate Pasadena's Connect17 week. We are expecting a turn out of about 50-60 people so this will be a well attended event and a great time to network and connect!

The showcase will feature demos of the new features and tools.

Cycles: denoising, Principled BSDF shader shadow catcher, faster AMD OpenCL rendering and feature parity with NVidia CUDA plus Filmic color management for better handling of high dynamic range.

Grease Pencil: new tools for interpolating between grease pencil frames, per-layer onion skinning, add blank frame tool, and UI improvements.

Alembic: import and export has been greatly improved, both in compatibility and stability.

Fracture Modifier's new features: bending metal/deforming plastic/fake cloth plus the new helper addon and pie menu! This is an incredible destruction platform and bullet physics enhancement for VFX.

Plus lots of other new features, fixes and addons!

There is plenty of parking near by and it is easy access from public transportation.
