LA Chef/Hadoop Joint Meetup: Automating the Hadoop Stack (Shopzilla)

Chris Hemphill (Director, Systems Engineering @shopzilla) and Roman Gazaryants (Systems Engineer @shopzilla) will be presenting how Shopzilla has automated our hadoop stack.

Synopsis: Hadoop is helping to solve many Big Data problems through massive distributed processing across many machines. This can be a challenge for operations departments to provision, install, configure, scale and maintain a large cluster. We will be going over how Shopzilla has automated this process operationally making a 5 node cluster the same as a 500 node cluster. We'll be covering a little bit of everything from bare-metal provisioning, PXE booting, to Chef package installations, to using using the Cloudera API for Hadoop cluster configuration and automation.
